Do you kids needs a reminder to use Kind Words?

My five-year-old struggles holding her tongue, especially with her younger sister. Days of hurling insults, snarky comments, and disrespectful responses, she needed a heart change.

I drew two lines on a chalkboard, wrote her name on top, and added the words; honey and vinegar. The rule: for kind words, we placed a tick mark under honey. For hurtful words, a mark fell under vinegar.

At the end of the day, whichever column held more ticks, she received a spoonful of that “medicine.” A few days of vinegar, we noticed a drastic change in her behavior. It is not a cure-all, but it made my daughter stop and think before speaking!
